ENCOUNTRES

The Teachers’ Lounge program creates encounters between teachers from all parts of Israeli society. These encounters create moments of connection, familiarity and new understandings. These moments can happen in the middle of a tour, in a planned or coincidental conversation, or through a variety of methods such as writing, photography, art and theater. This is how people from diverse backgrounds get a glimpse into the lives of the other participants.

The writing workshop

The writing workshop “Stories from a Teachers’ Lounge” seeks to gather narrated experiences from the sessions and from the stories that arise. This exercise enables further processing and documents them through creative writing. During the workshop, stories are written though a guided process. These sessions are led by two facilitators from the different sectors, who are themselves, writers and poets. The stories are collected, published and used for the purpose of the program’s accompanying research. The writing workshop is a teacher training course recognized for accreditation by the Ministry of Education. It is held once a year in the form of three intensive writing sessions.
